Baycrest on the Rise
Architectural Design & Vision
Our architectural approach for Baycrest on the Rise focused on blending classic Georgian-style exteriors with the rugged, natural beauty of the surrounding mountainside. To create a sense of individuality within the community, we utilized variations in exterior material palettes, roof forms, and distinct architectural elements that allow each home to be easily distinguished from its neighbours. The use of durable materials, including Hardie panels and cottage-style shake, ensures a timeless aesthetic that withstands the local climate while providing a warm, welcoming residential character.
Spatial Planning & Interior Integration
The 67 wood-frame homes are thoughtfully programmed as three- and four-bedroom layouts, ranging from 1,322 to 2,207 square feet. A key design objective was to maximize the influx of natural light; thus, we incorporated expansive windows that effectively "bring the outdoors in". Inside, the master suites are elevated by vaulted ceilings, creating a spacious and private retreat. Social connectivity is fostered through open-concept kitchens featuring professional-grade finishes, while practical needs are met with built-in two-car garages and ample integrated storage.
Community Connectivity
At the heart of the site plan is a standalone 2-storey amenity building, serving as the social hub for residents with a lounge, kitchenette, and outdoor patio. The site design seamlessly integrates with the existing topography, providing direct connections to the neighbouring parkland and extensive trail network. Landscaped green spaces, including a children's playground and picnic areas, were strategically placed to enhance the communal experience, ensuring the development functions as a cohesive extension of the thriving Burke Mountain village.
